Learning Resource Support

The Learning Resource Team at SSAV are educational specialists who believe in a collaborative and balanced instructional approach that supports, motivates, and inspires all students to become socially, emotionally and academically successful.

Short Term Support

Mild support is provided by trained professionals in a balanced service delivery model of consultative-collaborative support, accommodations, small group instruction, in-class support and/or direct intervention. An ILP (Individualized Learning Plan) is developed and goals are written and monitored. The dimensions of Mild Support include:

Long Term Support

Moderate support - an intensive service delivery model, provided by trained professionals, in which students with more specialized needs are supported in a combination of small group instruction, in-class support and/or direct, evidence-based intervention. An ILP (Individualized Learning Plan) is developed and goals are written and monitored.

School Psychologist

A Part-time school psychologist is employed to serve all divisions of SSAV. The psychologist provides a wide range of services that include consultation, individualized psycho-educational assessments, targeted counseling services, participation in parent and teacher meetings, and crisis management as part of a school-wide team.

Speech Language Pathologist

A Part-time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) works with students across all levels/grades in the school. The SLP works in consultation and in collaboration with general education teachers, and parents to prevent, identify, evaluate and provide relevant and appropriate intervention or students exhibiting a range of speech and language disorders.

Occupational/Physical Therapist

A Part-time Occupational/Physical Therapist (OT/PT) serves students in all divisions of SSAV. The OT/PT is primarily responsible for providing school-based services for students who have physical and/or occupational therapy needs. The OT/PT also assist students to physically access and benefit from the educational program by identifying the strengths that support success and the barriers that are limiting participation.
